King Faisal Specialist Hospital Holding Company (KFSHI) was established in 2007 with the mandate of providing laboratory genetic tests.  It was incubated as a product of the KFSH&RC Business Centre to grant hospital-access to paying customers.  The model expanded as basic utilization of excess Hospital resources to create new revenue streams.  Following successful experiences, KFSH&RC recognized plenty of similar opportunities that allowed for commercialization.  To harness these opportunities without risking the core business of healthcare, KFSHI was conceived as an independent venture arm for the Hospital.
