Preparation & Notes
An early morning , deep cough specimen collected on three (3) consecutive days is best for initial diagnosis of tuberculosis . if sputa are collected within the same 24-hour period , a minimum of eight hour between specimen is required . Minimum acceptable specimen volume is two (2) ml .
