Methodology: Enzymatic Preferred Specimen(s): 4.5 mL Protein-free filtrate Collection Instructions: Collect 4 mL whole blood EDTA (lavender-top), sodium or lithium heparin (green-top), or fluoride oxalate (gray-top) tube and immediately, vigorously mix with 4 mL pre-chilled, ice cold 7% or 8% Perchloric Acid. Let mixture stand for 10 minutes; then, centrifuge. Separate and submit 4.5 mL supernatant fluid for assay, refrigerated 2-8° C. Transport refrigerated (cold packs). Maintain 1:1 ratio for whole blood and Perchloric acid.
