Test Information

Name: Microsatellite Instability Status (MSI) by NGS , Tissue

Code: G5634-AN

Sample Type: FFPE

Turnaround Time (TAT): 16 days

Preparation & Notes

15- unstained slides , 1 H&E stained slide Microsatellite (MS), also called Short Tandem Repeats (STRs) or Simple Sequence Repeat (SSRs), consists of repeated sequences of 1–6 nucleotides. Cancers arising in cells with defective MMR gene function exhibit an inconsistent number of microsatellite nucleotide repeats when compared to normal tissue, a finding referred to as "microsatellite instability" (MSI). Patients with MSI-H tumor may benefit from immune checkpoint blockade. MSI-High (MSI-H) status is established when instability is observed if > 25% of the 400 microsatellite loci are unstable. • MSI-stable (MSI-S) status is established otherwise.
