If TB is isolated for the first time or after three months after the first isolate from a patient, susceptibilities will be performed at an additional charge (CPT code(s): 87190 per drug). Other mycobacteria susceptibility testing will be performed on request at an additional charge for each organism M. tuberculosis Complex Probe or C M. avium Complex Probe or M. kansasii Probe or M. gordonae Probe or Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Time of Flight (1, 2 & 3) or AFB Sequencing (1, 2 & 3) Preferred Specimen(s) Pure isolate collected on an agar slant in a double-walled container Alternative Specimen(s) Positive broth bottle or tube Collection Instructions Stability of isolates will be determined by the laboratory. Organism must be viable.
