Test Information

Name: Cryoglobulin

Code: 767

Sample Type: Blood (Imm)

Turnaround Time (TAT): 9 days

Preparation & Notes

"1. Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s). (Serum gel tube is not acceptable.) Tube(s) must remain at 37 degrees C. 2. Allow blood to clot at 37 degrees C. 3. Centrifuge at 37 degrees C. (Do not use a refrigerated centrifuge). It is very important that the specimen remains at 37 degrees C until after the separation of serum from red cells. 4. Place 2.0 mL of serum (minimum 1.0 mL) into an appropriately labeled plastic vial. 5. Send the specimen refrigerated ( add an ice pack in the specimen biohazard bag) Note: 1. Analysis cannot be performed with <1.0 mL of serum. Smaller volumes are insufficient to detect clinically important trace (mixed) cryoglobulins. Less than 1.0 mL will require a draw of a new specimen."
