Preparation & Notes

"Respiratory culture: Expectorated sputum, endotracheal secretions, tracheal aspirates, and transtracheal aspiration. Collect in a properly sealed sterile container or respiratory trap device. Q-RESP culture: bronchial washing,bronchial wash." Note: Sinus swabs or aspirates should be ordered as Wound Culture_Non-sterile or leaking containers, multiple specimens (more than 1 in 24 hours); dry specimens, poor quality sputum (presence of greater than 25 epithelial cells per low power field).
