Explore detailed information about this diagnostic testTest Information
Name: Eosinophil cationic protein (ECP)
Code: N5177-BI
Sample Type: Serum
Turnaround Time (TAT): 7 days
Preparation & Notes
500 ml serum, it is important that serum is sent from blood which has coagulated 60–120 minutes before being separated. Owing to the continuous release of ECP, sending in whole blood may lead to false high values. When using sampling tubes with separation gel, the serum has to be transferred into a separate tube and labelled accordingly immediately after centrifugation. Patients receiving high doses of Biotin (> 5 mg/day) should be sampled at least 8 hours after the last application, as high levels of the Biotin may interfere with the test system.
